On 14 February, an international solidarity action with workers of the Rustavi Azot chemical plant, and the Trade Union of Metallurgy, Mining and Chemical Industry Workers of Georgia (TUMMCIWG), took place in Rustavi, Georgia.

IndustriALL Global Union joined 475 participants from 31 countries in Cape Town, South Africa from 6-8 February 2017 to represent workers at the Alternative Mining Indaba. 

The IndustriALL Global Union Asia-Pacific executive committee met in Singapore on 10 February 2017. This was the first meeting of the committee to take place since global congress, and progress was made towards advancing the action plan.

A further nine trade union members from an IndustriALL Global Union affiliate in Bangladesh were arrested over the weekend as the government crackdown on garment workers escalates.

Two miners were killed and another seriously injured in an accident at a coal mine in the Mahi Toor Ghar area of Harnai Baluchistan province on 5 February.

2,500 miners at the Chilean company Minera Escondida, owned by the Australian multinational company BHP Billiton, began a legal strike on 9 February after negotiations with the company broke down.
