On 28 April, the International Day to Commemorate Dead and Injured Workers, IndustriALL Global Union affiliate trade unions from all corners of the globe demonstrated in Geneva, Switzerland, demanding an end to the asbestos trade.

Three major Russian unions have merged to form the Trade Union of Industry Workers of Russia (ROSPROFPROM). The unions are Trade Union of Defense Workers of Russia, the Textile Workers' Union of Russia and IndustriALL affiliate the Engineering Workers' Union of Russia.

The IndustriALL Women’s Committee met in Geneva, Switzerland, on 26 April, setting an action plan for the immediate future. 

Eight workers at Libya Oil in the Ivory Coast, have been laid off for economic reasons, something disputed by the union SYNTEPCI. The union is also rejecting the company's proposals to pay less compensation than it has done in the past.

On the eve of the fourth anniversary of the Rana Plaza factory collapse in Bangladesh, which killed more than a 1,000 garment workers, swift action by an IndustriALL trade union affiliate in the country has prevented a potential tragedy from taking place. 

Unions from Poland, Germany, UK, Brazil, Mexico, South Africa, the U.S., and Switzerland convened in Chattanooga, Tennessee, to show solidarity for workers at the local Volkswagen plant. The German auto manufacturer is defying a court ruling and continues to deny workers their legal right to organize.

Miners at Southern Copper Corporation in Peru are on indefinite strike in support of demands for a bigger share of profits, improvements in medical services, an end to company spying on workers and the reinstatement of dismissed workers.

Twenty-one representatives of IndustriALL affiliates from Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar and Philippines gathered in Malaysia for the Stop Precarious Work Project Coordination meeting on 3-4 April 2017. 

IndustriALL Global Union continued its campaign to end the deadly asbestos trade in a meeting with a top official from the United Nations in Geneva, Switzerland on 10 April. 

On 5-6 April, trade unions representing employees of the Swedish multinational company Ericsson gathered in Djurö, Sweden, for the second meeting of the Ericsson Global Trade Union Network.

A series of eight 24 hour strikes at factories making engines and the iconic Mini and Rolls-Royce cars will start on Wednesday 19 April.
