RETIRED L-69 BM-ST Donnie Ray Jones is living his dream, breeding and racing horses. A Boilermaker since 1976, Jones served two terms as the lodge’s top officer before calling it quits last year.

Construction BMs train in Kansas City

New business managers from the U.S. and Canada attend training in Kansas City July 27-31.

NEARLY TWO DOZEN U.S. and Canadian business managers met in Kansas City, Mo., July 27-31 for new officer training. The event was hosted by Construction Division Services (CDS) in conjunction with the Education and Training Services Department.

“We had an excellent group that stayed focused the entire week on the curriculum we developed for new business managers,” said CDS Director Skipper Branscum. “Our goal was to introduce these leaders to the various programs and resources that are available to help them succeed.”

Boilermakers raise $3,000 within 36 hours of accident

COREY WHITE, A nine-year member of Local 69 (Little Rock, Ark.) is glad to be alive today and thankful to his union brothers and sisters for seeing him through a horrendous accident last year.

On May 30, 2007, Corey, 28, and his brother, Cliff, 35, were riding in Corey’s pickup truck when it was struck head-on by a logging truck near Hot Springs, Ark. The impact broke Corey’s neck and caused other major injuries. Cliff suffered severe injuries as well.

Orange, Texas, lodge works without injury in 2006

THE NATIONAL ASSOCIATION of Construction Boilermaker Employers (NACBE) presented its annual safety awards to the 2006 top-performing locals from the Boilermakers’ five U.S. vice-presidential areas March 5 during the annual Construction Division conference at Marco Island, Fla.

Local 587 (Orange, Texas), representing the South and Central area, took national honors with zero lost-time accidents, zero compensable injuries, and zero OSHA-recordable injuries.
