Chris Elmore is a Boilermaker with 24 years of experience and currently serving as Southeast recruiter. He’s a proud member of Local 40 in Elizabethtown, Kentucky. Indentured into the apprenticeship in August 2001, he is a graduate apprentice who has remained committed to the trade through leadership, instruction and mentorship.

Elmore has served on Local 40’s Executive Board as a trustee and is currently in his fourth term as Local 40 President. Passionate about both learning and teaching, he has been deeply involved in training, serving as a Field Leadership Instructor, MOST Rigging Instructor, TVA Rigging Instructor and apprenticeship instructor. He has also completed the Boilermakers Project Management Course.

With 15 years of experience primarily as a general foreman, Elmore has excelled in planning, scheduling and leading crews. One of his most memorable projects was the construction of three simple cycle gas units at TVA’s Paradise, Kentucky, site for AZCO. As general foreman, he helped establish a strong relationship with the contractor, led an exceptional crew and contributed to one of the best jobs of his career.

In November 2024, Elmore took on the role of Recruiter for the Southeast Area, working to attract and develop the next generation of Boilermakers. He actively engages with high schools, vocational schools, technical colleges and welding programs, attending career days, job fairs and welding competitions. Additionally, he assists locals in filling understaffed jobs by connecting them with qualified candidates. Passionate about strengthening the trade, Elmore is already seeing an improvement in apprenticeship applicants, helping to build a stronger, more skilled workforce for the future.
