Consolidated Convention
The International Brotherhood of Boilermakers’ Consolidated Convention convenes every five years, per the Boilermakers’ Constitution. This event is where International officers are elected and the course of the union over the next five years is determined. Local lodges elect delegates to represent their interests at the convention. The 35th Consolidated Convention will take place in 2026.
Consolidated Convention
So that every lodge can be represented, the Constitution requires the International to reimburse each lodge for the transportation costs of one delegate, who votes with the full force of the entire lodge membership. The lodge may send additional delegates at their own expense. District lodges and councils also send delegates to the convention.
Delegates to the Consolidated Convention have a critical responsibility. Not only do they elect the International officers who will serve for the next five years, but they also read and hear all resolutions brought before the convention. Any changes to the Constitution must be passed at the convention by a majority vote of the delegates present.
Construction Sector Operations Conference (CSO)
The CSO Conference is the annual business meeting of Construction Sector Operations. Attendance is by invitation only.
Industrial Sector Operations Conference (ISO)
The ISO Conferences is an annual event that brings together local lodge leaders from the industrial sector for workshops, industry caucuses and plenary sessions. Attendance must be approved by the local lodge.
LEAP Conference
Each year, the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers hosts a conference in Washington, D.C. as part of its Legislative Education Action Program (LEAP). The conference includes updates on legislation impacting Boilermakers, special speakers, a workshop on legislation and lobbying, opportunities for Boilermaker delegates to meet their respective congressmen and women on Capitol Hill, and a reception to build relationships with lawmakers. Attendance is through local lodge approval.
School for Workers
Through the University of Wisconsin-Madison’s School for Workers program, each year the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers hosts weeklong basic training and advanced training classes specifically for Boilermaker leaders. The basic class is designed for up-and-coming local lodge leaders; and the advanced class is for more seasoned leaders or those who have already completed the basic class. Classes take place in August, and attendance is through local lodge approval.
Tripartite Conferences
Tripartite conferences bring owners, contractors and Boilermakers together to discuss shared opportunities, challenges and solutions. Each IVP section typically hosts an area-specific tripartite conference to address the area’s unique needs, and some industry-specific tripartite conferences have also been developed.
Also, each year MOST Programs hosts the MOST National Tripartite Alliance Conference for owners, contractors and Boilermakers throughout the U.S. and Canada. Attendance is for construction lodge leadership and by invitation.

Welding Boot Camp
Welding Boot Camp is a new addition to Boilermaker training. Boot camps are designed to polish the skills of experienced tradesmen and women through a three-week intensive training program. NOTE: This is not an alternative to the Boilermaker National Apprenticeship Program.
