My daughter, Nichole, was a 2009 recipient of an International scholarship. After completing her degree in architecture at the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT), she wanted to show her thanks for the financial assistance she has received by joining AmeriCorps to help other people, before getting on with her professional career. This has been a great experience for her. She is now CPR and Red Cross certified and says she can handle a chain saw, repair flooring and gutters, and install rain gardens, drywall and patios, among other things.
