Fulton workers vote to join Local 5, Zone 75

Bargaining unit makes commercial hot water boilers

EMPLOYEES AT FULTON Heating Solutions in Pulaski, N.Y., voted 21-7 to join Boilermakers Local 5, Zone 75 (Oswego, N.Y.) November 17. The workers make hot water steam boilers for commercial use.

Local 5, Zone 75, a construction, shop and railroad lodge, also represents a unit at Fulton Boiler Works, located in the same Fulton manufacturing complex. The Boilermakers have served that unit for 45 years.

Organizer Bobby Godinez led the Fulton Heating Solutions campaign, assisted by Assistant Director for Construction Sector Operations John Fultz; L-5, Z-75 Assistant Business Manager Greg Peterson and shop steward Walt Kling; retirees from the local; and headquarters staff.

“We were very excited when we learned that workers at Fulton Heating Solutions were interested in becoming Boilermakers,” said Godinez. “They did a great job of sticking together during the entire organizing campaign, and we look forward to helping them win a first contract.”

The NLRB certified the election results November 25; negotiations for a first contract are being scheduled.
