Cement lodge leaders discuss bargaining and steward training

CEMENT DISTRICT LODGE D11, encompassing 13 affiliated lodges in Western Canada, held its annual conference for lodge leaders July 10-13 in Sun Peaks, British Columbia. The conference offered local leaders the opportunity to learn more about their role in the union and to network with other leaders within the district. Educational sessions included information on drug and alcohol testing, group insurance, basic steward training and benefit bargaining.

More than 70 Boilermakers attend classes

MORE THAN 70 Boilermakers from across Canada received steward training between October 2014 and February 2015, according to International Rep Richard MacIntosh, who led the instruction.

Ten lodges sent members to the training.

Labor federation, IBB step up assistance

THREE EMPLOYEES AT Lehigh Cement Ltd.’s Regina Cement Terminal, locked out since Jan. 21, are about to get a helping hand from Saskatchewan’s largest labor organization.

The Saskatchewan Federation of Labour and the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers (IBB) are teaming up for a solidarity picket, to take place April 24 at the company’s facility on Victoria Plains, Fleet Street North, Regina, Saskatchewan, at 10:00 a.m.
