Local Lodge Officer Training

Local lodge officers and members who aspire to being elected to office should consider enrolling in the Boilermakers Collective Bargaining Institutes, offered through the University of Wisconsin School for Workers each summer. These institutes offer the most comprehensive training in collective bargaining, grievance handling, and other aspects of local lodge leadership of any courses provided by or through the International. Contact the Department of Education and Training Services for more information.

The Education & Training Services Department sometimes offers training for local lodge officers to help them learn how to run meetings, keep financial records, prepare quarterly audit reports, prepare government-required reports (LM reports and IRS filings), and other skills needed to run a lodge efficiently. Local lodges interested in local lodge officer training should discuss their needs with the International representative who services their lodge.

Upcoming local lodge officer training opportunities from the International and at the School for Workers are listed on the Boilermakers Education & Training Calendar.
