Blanca Aguilar

Western States Organizer, M.O.R.E. Work Investment Fund

Blanca Aguilar is a tireless labor organizer with a lifelong commitment to union advocacy. Currently serving as a Western States organizer for the M.O.R.E. Work Investment Fund, she has played a pivotal role in empowering workers and securing organizing victories across multiple industries.

Aguilar began her journey in labor organizing as a rank-and-file Teamster, serving as a shop steward in the Las Vegas hotel industry. She later became a lost-time organizer before transitioning to a staff organizer role with the Teamsters. Throughout her career, she has contributed to significant organizing wins, including campaigns at Wynn Hotel & Casino, Golden Nugget and MGM, among others. She led a successful organizing effort at Waste Management in Simi Valley, California, and was the lead organizer in the campaign at Amy’s Kitchen. She is currently working on the Siemens Workers United campaign in Sacramento, California, where she educates workers about their federal rights, empowers them to overcome fear and builds strong, militant workforces capable of negotiating legally binding contracts to improve their livelihoods and communities.

Aguilar comes from a proud Hispanic family with deep roots in the labor movement. Her parents were field workers who participated in the historic Cesar Chavez marches, instilling in her an early—though initially unrecognized—understanding of solidarity and collective action. As she grew older, she came to appreciate the importance of their fight and has dedicated her career to advocating for workers’ rights.

She believes that true organizing requires passion and empathy—putting oneself in the workers’ shoes, understanding their struggles and fighting for their rights from the heart. She remains committed to organizing more workers, strengthening the middle class and shaping a better future for generations to come.
