IBB takes 'Unions Say No to Violence' pledge

THE INTERNATIONAL BROTHERHOOD of Boilermakers has joined the efforts of IndustriALL Global Union in its fight against workplace violence toward women. The "Unions Say No to Violence" #TakeThePledge campaign denounces all forms of gender-based violence and harassment and calls all affiliated unions to take the pledge to:

  • Take a public stand against all forms of violence and harassment against women and to condemn all attitudes and actions that perpetuate sexism and violence.
  • Take up the issue as a priority.
  • Foster a culture of respect for women within the union.
  • Encourage members to actively take a stance against violence against women, especially in their workplaces.
  • Organize campaigns that prevent and combat violence against women.
  • Demand that governments enact and enforce laws to protect women from violence.
  • Demand that employers develop policies against all forms of violence and harassment at work.
  • Demand that employers develop concrete policies and procedures to prevent and combat all forms of violence against women.
  • Demand the eradication of violence and harassment against women.
