French and US trade unions joined forces with IndustriALL and French parliamentarians on 12 October in Paris, to call on Renault-Nissan CEO Carlos Ghosn to stop the anti-union practices at the Nissan plant, Canton, Mississippi.

German and U.S. union members met in Berlin today to share experiences and plans to build power on both sides of the Atlantic through coordinated organizing.

As IndustriALL Global Union affiliates around the world took action to stop precarious work on 7 October, a new logo for the campaign was unveiled on the last day of IndustriALL’s 2nd Congress in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Around 400 workers at the Indian shipbreaking yards in Alang and Mumbai workers participated in manifestations on 7 October to STOP Precarious Work.

IndustriALL affiliates in Myanmar held an orientation on maternity protection.

IndustriALL affiliate Pakistan National Textile Leather Garment & General Federation conducted a rally in Mumtazabad Multan, demanding that the government remove precarious work in all sectors and reform the labour law.

On 7 October, IndustriALL 2nd Congress adopted a solidarity resolution calling for an end to the South Korean government’s vicious attack on workers’ rights and democracy by weakening labour legislation, criminalizing protest and imprisoning trade union leaders.

On World Day for Decent Work on 7 October, women workers joined IndustriALL’s simultaneous mobilizations in Cambodia, Indonesia, Philippines and Thailand to fight against precarious work. 

Today, the World Day of Decent Work, leaders of unions at all major Rio Tinto operations in 13 countries sent a letter to Rio Tinto’s CEO calling for a limit on Rio Tinto’s use of precarious work and improved conditions for their precarious workers.
