Boilermakers USA shoot breaks fund-raising, participation records

Event raises $150,000, draws 220 shooters

BOILERMAKER SUPPORT FOR the Union Sportsmen’s Alliance (USA) continues to break records. This year’s 7th Annual Boilermakers Kansas City Sporting Clays Shoot surpassed all other such events across the nation to date, raising more than $150,000 and attracting 220 shooters.

The event was held Sep. 26 at the Powder Creek Shooting Park in Lenexa, Kan. Funds raised from the shoot will support the USA’s conservation mission.

International announces scholarship winners

Twenty-seven Boilermaker dependents earn awards totaling $54,000

THE BOILERMAKERS’ International Executive Council scholarship committee announced the winners of its 2013 scholarship program this past April. The committee awarded $54,000 to 27 recipients, with $42,000 being allocated to U.S. applicants and $12,000 to Canadian applicants.

Effective June 28, 2010 to June 27, 2013, for 45 members of Local 87 (West Chester, Pa.) who work at Sartomer Company. Sartomer Company is a manufacturer and distributor of custom chemicals for industrial and commercial use, including in flooring, inks, optics and electronics. Products include acrylate/methacrylate monomers, oligomers and other specialty chemicals.

MEMBERS OF LOCAL 483 (Alton, Ill.) who worked for Joy Technologies Inc., d/b/a Joy Mining Machinery in Mount Vernon, Ill., are now eligible for government benefits under the Trade Act of 1974, thanks to the efforts of 10 former co-workers and two lawyers who worked on the case pro-bono (without compensation, for the public good).
