Services and Responsibilities
The auditing department assists the International president and International secretary-treasurer by reviewing and approving International expenses, including expenses for all International officers, staff and office employees.
The department monitors local lodges’ submission of government reporting forms; i.e., labor management reports with the Department of Labor and financial reports with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).
As needed, the auditing department provides technical assistance in completing quarterly and annual audit reports that are required to be submitted to the International secretary-treasurer’s office.
The auditing department also assists in enforcing the International Brotherhood's constitution regarding financial controls to prevent misappropriations of local lodge funds and to provide assistance in tracking and resolving any misappropriations should they occur. If needed, the department provides assistance in completing local lodge audits with local lodge officers and International staff.
