Dear Sisters and Brothers:

On August 3, 2018, IMERYS locked out 33 members of Boilermakers Local Lodge D239 in Three Forks, MT. The members rejected a company proposal that, among other things, would have removed new retiree health insurance, frozen their defined pension benefit, removed seniority from consideration when filling positions and changed how overtime was paid.

AFL-CIO elects IVP Fairley to Executive Council

Will assume position held by IP Jones

THE AFL-CIO EXECUTIVE Council unanimously elected International Vice President – Southeast Warren Fairley to the council July 25. Fairley takes on the position formerly held by International President Newton B. Jones, who stepped down to devote more time to key Boilermaker conferences that are often scheduled at the same time as council meetings.

“I am honored that President Jones would recommend me to fill his position on the council,” said Fairley, “and that AFL-CIO President Trumka would support this recommendation.”

Group votes to cover member TWIC cards

IN AN HISTORIC event in Salt Lake City May 7, International officers, International reps and business managers from the Western States’ eight construction locals launched the first-ever M.O.R.E. Work Action Council meeting.

M.O.R.E. (Marketing, Organizing, Recruitment and Employment) is a work investment fund financed by U.S. construction members and designed to transform the union using proactive, coordinated strategies to increase work opportunities and bring in new members.

More than 115 company representatives, contractors and Boilermakers met under the uniting theme “Working Together for a Stronger Industry!” to build relationships, learn the latest industry info and confront challenges.

Kansas City, KS, (June 27, 2018) – The International Brotherhood of Boilermakers, a construction and industrial union headquartered in Kansas City, Kansas, condemns today’s Supreme Court decision in Janus v. AFSCME, Council 31, saying the ruling ignores the constitutional rights of dues-paying members.
